Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Income Tax is a
government agency responsible for administering and enforcing the direct tax
laws in India. The IRS Income Tax officers are responsible for various tasks
such as assessing, collecting, and enforcing direct taxes such as income tax,
wealth tax, and gift tax.
The training structure of Indian Revenue Service
Income Tax officers consists of three phases:
Foundation Course: This is a three-month
training program conducted at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of
Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. The course focuses on building a
foundation of knowledge and skills in various areas such as law, economics,
finance, and management.
Professional Training: After completing the
foundation course, the officers are posted to various training institutes
across the country for a period of 15 months. During this period, they undergo
specialized training in areas such as direct tax laws, investigation
techniques, and financial analysis.
On-the-job Training: After completing the
professional training, the officers are posted to various field offices across
the country. Here, they undergo on-the-job training under the guidance of
experienced officers.
The training academy for Indian Revenue Service
officers is the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA)
in Mussoorie. This academy is responsible for conducting the foundation course
for all civil servants, including Indian Revenue Service officers.
