Top 10 tips to prepare and crack UPSC 2023 Prelims.
Hello guys, If you are looking for the best tips for clearing UPSC Exam. You have landed on the correct site here you will find time-tested tips to crack UPSC Exam in the first attempt.
However to make this dream come true you first need to
know how to clear prelims 2023 with a hike of around 15-20 marks than the cut-off marks, so let's get started by knowing the best tips to clear prelims with a score of more
than 120 marks -
1. Have the right mindset -
To start
something good you need to have the right mindfulness to win the things in the mind
itself. Exactly I might sound like the author of “The Secret” boo but it
is equally applicable in civil service exam preparation as well so
talk positively to yourself and have a positive mindset while facing the world’s
toughest exam. Make sure you are in surrounding of friends who motivate you to study and have positive thoughts.
2. Have a plan -
By this I
mean you should have a pinpointed plan date-wise or week-wise to cover your
syllabus. This is also mentioned in the awesome book Goals by Brian Tracy in
which he quotes " success is completing smaller tasks " here this
quote is apt as you want to succeed in the civil service exam you should complete
your task with a pro tip - have" to-do list " app to make a plan and use an app
like – “Focus” “Loop – the habit maker” to make your preparation efficient
in this smart age of smart apps.
You can take the help of google calender to plan your daily weekly and monthly tasks. Make the best use of technology.
3. Cover syllabus thoroughly -
Yes!
You must cover the whole syllabus, there might be many people who would say that
they haven't covered art and culture or say medieval Indiana history but
let me tell you one thing UPSC is also the Unpredictable civil
services so you need to prepare yourself for every damn question and
syllabus topic which might be asked.
4. Have proper notes -(don't skip)
You must be wondering why am I adding this point here, but guys I know
every IAS aspirants have tones and loads of books and notes but while
preparing and clearing prelims 2020 you have a lot of options for notes and
books but what is needed is proper de-cluttering of all these notes into only
handy notes to excel in exams. Here my take are -
-Previous Years Question book
-NCERT
books of History from class 6 to 12
-NCERT
books of Science & Tech
-NCERT
books of Polity
-NCERT
books of Economy
-NCERT
books of Geography class 11, 12
-Tamil
Nadu board history
5. Understand trend -
I know there is no fixed trend when it comes to the world's
toughest exam but by going through previous year's exam question papers you can
actually understand from which part UPSC ask many questions there is a
reason behind it but here I am not going into that deeper part. If you want to
know trends and topics pin me in the comment section I will write another write-up
for you.
6. Have a group/friend circle & Mentor-
You need a group of 3-4 friends to help you prepare effectively but there are certain criteria while choosing your friends wisely as said " You become the average of what your close 5 friends are " and this is proper when it comes to sailing in the journey to Lbsnaa (Lal bahadur shastri National academy of administration) make them friends who not help you clear prelims but will come along with you in Foundation course of civil services. They help you revise effectively.
Along with a friend circle you need a mentor who has successfully cleared prelims at least 2 times before, he/she can guide you and tell you the nitty-gritty of clearing civil services. If you don't get any mentor you can connect
with me on my Instagram handle @civilstayari or can mail me on my mail id
- civilstayari@gmail.com.
7. Give importance to CSAT.
This is my story, during my 2nd attempt, I
overconfidently sit an exam directly without even going through the basics of csat
preparation because I was able to clear prelims with a comfortable margin
in my first attempt and hence didn't take it seriously this time and I failed only
by 2 marks. This is after having 116 marks in the prelims GS paper, however, you
will get to listen to similar stories from many corners of Delhi and other UPSC
hotspots like Pune and Chennai. So do give importance to CSAT.
8. Being consistent -
This is the natural expectation from you that to become IAS you should be a consistent performer because after getting selected you have
to perform daily with equal zeal every day to face difficult situations in your
work be it about agriculture distress in your district, flood situation,
communal violence etc. So, perform consistently as per your plan as said above.
9. Work efficiently and smartly -
This is actually a repeat point but elaborately, here you have to
use smart options available to you be it apps, or sites like ours. Here is a
list of apps which can help you in your preparation
-
Indian constitution
- to-do list
- widget timer
- focus
- loop
10. Revision
Re-revision-
Revising what you have already read is very much important in prelims preparation, if you ask me - my suggestion will be that you are doing a study for 10 hours a day and then dedicate 6 hours to new topics reading and 4 hours for revising because none of us has a memory like a swami Vivekanand. So don't ignore the importance of revising
Here
I am concluding this list let me know if you want anything which is needed
to add to this list but before ending it let me tell you a pro tip
-
Yes,
this is the 11th tip but a pro because this is the most important tip yet I have written
at last because this pro tip is about 1000% implementation of all above if you
implement it effectively, I am sure you will be an IAS officer in near future
because IAS is all about implementing government decisions.
